Grantee Highlight: UpSpring
About Grantee
UpSpring is a reputable organization that has served children experiencing homelessness in Greater Cincinnati for over 26 years. It is the only local nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the educational needs of children experiencing homelessness, serving over 4,000 students in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Their aim is to give children the tools and resources to become well-rounded participants in society and end the cycle of poverty.
What We Funded
The UpSpring After School program was piloted in January 2016, providing the opportunity for children and teens who are experiencing homelessness to have a meaningful school-club experience. This program allows students to focus on dreams that can impact their future and to feel more connected to their school, their community, and their peers.
The goal of the UpSpring After School program is to support students’ interests and passions, encourage their academic success, and help them to build the social and emotional skills they need to achieve success. Millstone Fund is grateful to be involved with such a meaningful organization and is excited to see all of the good they continue to do in the community.
